Welcome to a creative writing workshop with a dramatic twist - perfect for both writers who want to try out a new storytelling medium, and those who already have a love of the theatrical. Join us for an inclusive peer-learning session led by a fellow amateur playwriting enthusiast.

Short plays are a fantastic way for writers to generate and distil ideas, and yet they are rarely represented in Zines. Through guided prompts and discussion, this workshop explores what the creative freedom of zine-making can bring to the act of writing a scene, and how the tradition of plays published in print might bring something exciting to zine collections everywhere.

Perhaps you are looking for a new way to generate scenes for other forms of art, perhaps you want to present a performance blueprint to zine-reading communities throughout the world, or maybe you want to come work alongside other creatives who love theatre and screen. Everyone is welcome!

This event will take place at the GZL space Albert Road.

GZL provides hand sanitizer and KN95 masks for participants. If you would like to attend and request that all other participants wear masks, you can either ask our staff member on the day or email us ahead of time at hello@glasgowzinelibrary.com and we will ask all who are able to mask to do so. Additionally, we have an air purifier with HEPA filters in the library. If you have any other specific concerns, please send us an email!

GZL pledges to support The Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel. As part of this pledge we may participate in strikes called in response to the ongoing genocide in Palestine. If this event falls on a strike day and is cancelled, we will work with event leaders to reschedule the event asap. Participants will also have the option of receiving an immediate refund for any ticket purchases and travel booked to attend.
