Access at Events

Access Requests

All access requests can be made via Eventbrite while booking or you can contact glasgowzinelibrary@gmail.com. We may be in touch with you directly to discuss certain requests but we will never ask for any proof or reasoning behind an access request. You can request anything that will make your experience better. For example we have previously provided large print and audio versions of material, British Sign Language interpretation, and captioning for film screening events. All requests are kept private.

If you have any specific access requirements please indicate this when booking a ticket. We will do our best to meet any requests within our limited budget. We are more able to meet requests made at least two weeks in advance.

Where access requests are made for an event that is closed for a certain group (i.e. only open to BIPOC / QTBIPOC / LGBT+ / disabled participants) we will always try to find an access worker who is also of this identity or experience, however this may not always be possible. If there will be an access worker of a different identity or experience in a closed event we will inform all participants beforehand.

Content Notes

Content notes are included in event descriptions for guidance regarding potentially distressing subject matter that may be discussed. Where possible we will also try to indicate what specific activities and sensory experiences an event will involve (e.g - reading, group discussions, physical participation, sound and lights that may be present, etc.).

Pay What You Can

In order to make our events more accessible to those on a low income, we use a sliding scale ticket price of £0-£12 for our events. You can choose what you pay based on your economic circumstances - you can read more about our ticketing system by visiting this link.

Our ticket sales go towards running our spaces and supporting DIY makers. If you have a free ticket and can no longer use it, please email glasgowzinelibrary@gmail.com to let us know.

Quiet Room

All events will have a dedicated quiet space separate from the event activities. Stim toys are also provided in the library.

Online Events

All online events will feature automated captioning via Otter.ai. Live closed captioning and BSL are available upon request.

Events may be recorded for access reasons, but GZL or the event facilitator will always inform participants in advance if this is the case.

Please contact glasgowzinelibrary@gmail.com or if you have any questions or feedback about accessibility at our events.
