Please note: this event will be held online on Zoom.
Join us online for a listening event co-hosted by Dundee Radio Club (Su Shaw and Becca Clark), exploring the radical potential of listening as a tool for environmental awareness and action.
In this sonic workshop, we will tune into voices and audio works from climate-focused artists, sound-makers and organisers — sharing environmentally responsive pieces and reflections from climate justice movements. We will listen deeply to our surroundings, to the communities we’re part of, and to the possibilities that emerge when we attune our attention.
We’ll explore the power of sound in building solidarity, the role of community radio in solidarity building / community voicing / climate action, and how creative practices can centre environmental responsibility rather than treating it as an afterthought. Featuring sound works from our own practices and others featured during ddrc’s listening festival – we’ll also draw on listening traditions from Pauline Oliveros' Deep Listening, to the practices of Dadirri, and composer Annea Lockwood.
You will be invited to contribute to a collaborative broadcast created during and after the session (there will be homework!), which will air as part of the festival programme at Tramway and online.
Come to listen and sound together.
