Join this welcoming, hands-on introduction to Japanese calligraphy and discover the beauty of traditional brush writing.
In this relaxed in-person workshop, participants will explore basic Japanese calligraphy techniques while learning how to write their own name or the name of a loved one or pet in Japanese characters.
Guided step-by-step and the session will introduce the cultural background, tools, and expressive brush techniques used in calligraphy. Participants will have the chance to practise strokes, experiment with ink and brush movement, and create their own personalised calligraphy artwork to take home.
Suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some experience, the workshop encourages mindfulness, creativity, and cultural exploration in a friendly and supportive environment. Attendees will leave with new creative skills, a deeper appreciation of Japanese artistic traditions, and a handmade piece of calligraphy created during the session.
Unsure what to pay for Pay-What-You-Can events? Find our guide here.
Please note: we can only issue refunds requested 72 hours before the workshop begins.
