Have a go at field recording in this hands on sound workshop.
Work with geofones, hydrophones, electromagnetic sensors, M&S and binaural recording techniques to explore the Hidden Gardens and think about subjectivity as recordists, developing a critical practice of listening.
You will explore field recording composition, self-reflexivity in documenting sound, activating the environment, hidden and inaccessible sounds and interventionist approaches to interrogating space.
Recordings made during the workshop will be worked into an experimental documentary montage to be broadcast on Radiophrenia.

About the facilitator:
Radiophrenia is an artist-run, temporary radio station broadcasting intermittently since 2015. It is managed as a co-operative by Mark Vernon, Timothea Armour and Stevie Jones, aiming to promote radio as an art form and encourage experimental approaches to the medium. Presenting the 8th edition of their 2 week festival in April - transmitting 24 hours a day throughout - they share newly commissioned work from a roster of local and international artists including Brunhild Ferrari, Matana Roberts, Phew! and Budhaditya Chattopadhyay. Radiophrenia celebrate the ephemerality of broadcast on 87.9FM, the light at the end of the dial.
